We have been married since 2016 and have two children, Jannis and Mona. We have been working as mission partners of Globe Mission for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV) since March 2024.
Tabea was born in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV), but has lived most of her life in Thuringia. Andreas is a true Erfurt native. We got to know each other in the Jesus Project Erfurt, a social missionary community in a prefabricated building in Erfurt.
Since 2021, we’ve been living in Greifswald, in the far north of Germany on the Baltic coast.
How did that come about? After our wedding, we moved to Marburg, where Andreas studied practical theology and social work. But we lacked perspective. We put the map of Germany between us and asked God: Where is our place? And we asked ourselves the same question: Where do WE want to live? What is important to US? Three points were central:
MV and specifically Greifswald came into focus.
We heard: Everything begins with prayer! We were also given a very vivid impression of the creation of a house of prayer. We also heard: This house of prayer should be a place of spiritual grounding, a place where Christians in MV can gather and connect. We see in a picture how burning torches emanate from this place of prayer and spread throughout the state.
We have been following this trail since December 2022.
People pray focused, powerful, combative with a clear view of the visible and invisible world. In various places in MV, the hard crusts are breaking open and fire is bursting forth. People are being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. These people are devoted to Jesus, hear God’s voice and follow it in all situations.
Andreas: I dream of people who look to Jesus and ask Him in all situations. Who have a longing for Him and whose gatherings are inspired by this. I dream of people for whom the program is not so important. Who let themselves be led by Jesus without compromise. Even if this means that they don’t attend events and don’t seem to do anything. I dream of people who are followed by miracles. Who see supernaturalness and dependence on Jesus as normal. Who nevertheless have their place in life and are not afraid to deal with themselves. Who seek access to themselves, like the relationship with Jesus, because he dwells in us. “Truly I say to you: Unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 18:3)
The Greifswald House of Prayer exists to lead Christians and non-Christians who are searching for God into a committed following of Jesus and their calling through various forms of prayer and pastoral care – so that the kingdom of God can continue to spread in Greifswald and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Our motto: gather-raise-send
(Isaiah 49:5-6)
Following an impression that we as prayers should go around Jericho like the Israelites to bring down the walls (“walls of the heart”), we started to organize 24h prayers in the churches of Greifswald. The watchmen are to take their place on the walls of the city.
Following the example of David, we are building our “hut” (see below) in the city’s churches and calling people into prayer and the presence of God (Amos 9:11-12). We also want to create places where people can experience God’s presence through street outreaches, such as worship on the market square.
Several times a week, we practice worship and intercession in various settings. In addition, there are prayer and fasting days for women and prayer counseling with the aim of lifting people up and leading them into their calling
Psalm 24 This Psalm of David asks who may draw near to the Lord. They will receive rich blessings and the doors and gates will open. “This is the generation that seeks after him, that seeks your face, O God of Jacob.” (Psalm 24:6)
Psalm 40 David describes how his unconditional focus on God helped him. God turns to him and gives him a new song, which reaches those who fear the Lord. “I waited for the LORD, and he leaned toward me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of the horrible pit, out of the dirt and mud, and set my feet on a rock so that I could tread safely; he gave me a new song in my mouth to praise our God. Many will see this and fear and hope in the LORD. Blessed is he who puts his hope in the LORD and does not turn to the arrogant or to those who deal in lies!” (Ps 40:2-5)
Isaiah 62 Isaiah sees the great longing for the heavenly Jerusalem to take shape. He sees the watchmen who are in God’s ears. “O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen over your walls, who will not keep silent all day and all night. You who remind the LORD without giving yourselves rest, give him no rest until he restores Jerusalem and sets it up for praise on earth!” (Isa 62:6, 7)
“Enter, enter through the gates! Prepare the way for the people! Make way, make way, remove the stones! Set up a sign for the nations!” (Isa 62:10)
Isaiah 49:5-6 But now the Lord has spoken, who made me his servant in the womb to bring Jacob home to him and to gather Israel to him. So I was honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God was my strength.
And he said: “It is not enough for you to be my servant just to restore the tribes of Jacob and to bring home the spared of Israel. I will make you a light for the nations, so that my salvation will reach to the ends of the earth.
